MEET JANE

 
 

Jane is a multi-award winning director and writer of drama and documentary.

Her filmmaking is compassionate, compelling, and sometimes funny. She loves stories that honour our planet and our shared humanity.

Jane was series producer of Back to Nature (and writer-director of 3 episodes), an 8 part documentary series TV critics dubbed “This year’s most beautiful new show” and “My favourite new show of this year.”  Broadcast on ABC TV in 2021, Back to Nature was a co-production with Media Stockade.

Jane wrote and directed the documentary Ka-Ching! Pokie Nation (ABC TV), for which she received a 2016 ADG nomination and was Highly Commended. She was writer-director of multiple episodes of Who Do You Think You Are? (SBS), Coast Australia (Foxtel), and Two of Us (SBS), and lead director on the flagship Channel 9 war history series In Their Footsteps.

Her drama film Delivery Day (28’) won many awards including the Padino D’Oro for Best International Short Film at the Locarno Film Festival; First Place at the Palm Springs International Film Festival; Best Australian Film and Most Popular Film at Australia’s premier short film festival, Flickerfest; and was longlisted for the 74th Academy Awards nominations. Delivery Day also received citations from both the Adults’ and Children’s juries at the Berlin Film Festival and the Chicago International Children's Festival praising the ‘maturity and grace, subtlety, intensity and conviction’ of Jane’s directing.


For her first short film One That Got Away (7’) Jane took home the award for Best Director at Flickerfest. She’s directed drama components for a number of true crime series, including the long running Deadly Women, and was one of the first female directors of Home and Away.

Jane’s had the honour of being mentored by other directors including Michael Jenkins (Blue Murder, The Leaving of Liverpool, Heartbreak High) and Rob Sitch (The Dish, The Castle).

Jane sometimes makes TVCs, represented by Raven Collective. She directed the branded content documentary All I Need which went viral with over 4.5 million views, and won the Grand Prix at BeFest 2016.

Jane is available for freelance work. Threshold Pictures is where she develops and sometimes co-produces projects.

She is currently attached as director on the chlidrens’ feature film, Smooch and Rose.

She lives on Gamaragal Country in Sydney, Australia.
